How To Reach Akshardhaam

Akshardhaam in Delhi is considered to be the biggest temple in the city. Swaminarayan Akshardham shows the magnitude and importance of India’s culture, traditions, architecture of the ancient times and the spirituality. The main monument which depicts the ‘vastu shastra’ of the ancient Indian, is an amazing master piece which is in white marble and pink sandstone and is 141 ft in height, 316 feet in width and 370 feet in length with ornate pillars of about 234, amounting to more than 20,000 statues and sculptures of the deities, nice lovely decorative arches and large domes or 72 feet high amounting to about 11 in numbers. There is a parikrama which is a double storied red sandstone and is like a necklace which is entangled around the monuments and has more than 1,160 pillars and small domes of 155. The whole of the monument is seen to be risen on 148 huge elephant’s shoulders with Swaminarayan panchdhatu statue of 11 feet tall possessing over the statue. This building which was moderated and inspired by the spiritual head Pramukh Swami Maharaj, of Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha, whose volunteers of about 3000 in numbers helped the artisans of 7000 in numbers in constructing the Akshardham. The temple which was inaugurated in the year 2005 attracts the attention of around 70% of the tourists who pay a visit to Delhi.

Timing of Temple: Every Monday the Akshardham temple remains closed, you can visit the temple from 9am till 6:30pm. All the metallic items and mobile phones are to be deposited at the main entrance due to security reasons.

How should you reach by Metro: There are many options available from Delhi to go to any other place. The most convenient way to commute is by the metro train and this is a boon in disguise given by the Government of Delhi to the Delhites. The most comfortable way to commute in Delhi is the Delhi metro. Anyone can alight the metro train if they want to visit the Akshardham temple. The metro railway station named Indraprastha is very near to the Delhi railway station metro. You can either take a taxi or an auto or bus from here.

How one should be reaching from the Delhi railway station: From the station Akshardham is around 10km. After you come out from the railway station you should come from the platform 12 and not platform 1 and the charge for auto is Rs.100 from the station.

How can one reach from the Nizamuddin Railway station: It is just 4 kms and one can also reach there by either prepaid taxi or an auto rickshaw. They charge an amount of around Rs.100.
